About the Doctor
Dr. Gerald "Jerry" Smith, P.C. is an orthodontic specialist in Canton, GA.
Dr. Jerry Smith has been in private practice since 1987. A native of Marietta, GA, Dr. Jerry graduated from Wheeler High School and Georgia State University (Cum Laude with a distinction in Biology). He received his Doctorate degree in Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia and pursued two additional years of training in his Orthodontic residency at LSU School of Dentistry. He was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and has written articles for scientific and clinical journals.
He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association and the Cherokee Study Club, as well as other professional organizations. Dr. Jerry served as President of the Georgia Association of Orthodontists in 2002-2003, a position he was elected to by his peers in the orthodontic community. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, a certification held by less than 25% of orthodontists in America.
Dr. Jerry has three children: Ryan, Kathryn and Harrison. He is an active member of St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, where he teaches Sunday school. In his spare time, he enjoys playing with his kids, tennis and swimming.
Dr. Jerry believes communication and patient involvement assure the best orthodontic treatment. He believes an informed patient is a motivated patient. He encourages questions, comments or suggestions at any time.
Most of our patients are by "word of mouth" from other patients in treatment. These patients range in age from 7 to 70, and Dr. Jerry is honored to be the "personal orthodontist" for each one.
